i'm starting to realise that the things that used to make me content no longer satisfy me.
it seems that allthough i have a reasonably good job, it in no way matches up to what i expected from life after university. i'm worried that as i get sucked into corporate world further and further, i'm losing all of the good intentions and ambition i had for the future. i keep asking myself whether i made the right decision, and increasingly the answer is no.
The problem is; will I be happy with anything? Am i just being greedy? i'm paid reasonably well to sell my soul to the corporate machine, but i don't have any time to do the things i enjoy. so whats the point?! lol a means to what end i wonder?
perhaps it's just a culmination of dark mornings and dark evenings causing this general malaise, but i can't see i'm going to be very happy when it gets sunny and i'm stuck in a hot office 2 hours away from the beach either.
perhaps bigbadweb should be reincarnated into a money making business. perhaps even mygrl could make a comeback?

I feel the same way! I'm tired of spending 2 hours of my weekdays being squashed into a metal container like a sardine.

Indeed, what is the point of having money to spend, if you have no time to spend it in? I too am miserable, but then again I'm doing a job that I don't want to do, and getting paid poorly.
We should all set up a cool business and recreate a version of Harcourt.

Such is life sadly. I myself find that work sucks, being paid F all! seriously i think a WEB 2.0 startup is in order. a proper reincarnation of Mygrly and a couple other projects could be really interesting. pack your bags and move over here. it`ll do away with the hum drum of london, life is laid back, but i think it`s just the shock reality of working again and knowing thats all i have to look forward to for the next 40 years isnt much fun!

Congratulations, welcome to the realities of working life.
The trick is to realise: "Why am I working?"
If the job is giving some sui generis (wiki if you don't know)
satisfaction, then that's ok. Go for it and enjoy.
If you are doing the job to get you the money to do other stuff then you
need to think about what your priorities are and whether there are
better ways of getting it. Work/life balance is the phrase, dude.
Could you be happy doing what you do elsewhere, after all the south-east
is expensive and overcrowded (oh, the joys of commuting!). Or even working for yourself after you've gotten skilled-up?
I think you are just hitting the crushing new graduate
realisation that you are chained to work, that you need money to pay off
all those debts (loans were not something I had to worry about) and that
you got totally lied to by those who told you how great it was all going to
be once you got out of university.
Your years as a student are, unless you are really unlucky, some of the most fun you
will ever have, where you make some of the mates you'll have for life and where you get your
last chance to tit around for a while before the horrible growing up stuff happens and
you have to be a responsible professional.
It's all downhill from here.
